FRAUD ARREST                                                C11-194090
On November 28th, 2011 the Winnipeg Police Service issued a public advisory warning for a number of instances of fraud that had occurred within senior citizen's complexes within the month of November. 
 
During these instances the suspect male will attend to a senior citizen's apartment complex, where he will pose as a family member visiting a relative. Once inside the complex the suspect goes to various suites and befriends vulnerable elderly seniors posing as either a maintenance worker or a security guard. When the suspect is able to gain entry into the suite he immediately begins searching for money, cheques or debit cards, and subsequently requests the PIN number from the victim. 
 
As well, in one instance on November 24th, 2011 Winnipeg Police Members responded to a downtown bank after alert bank employees observed an elderly female in the company of a suspicious male, attempting to withdraw funds. This suspect male fled prior to police arrival.        
 
After a lengthy investigation Division 11 Detectives arrested an individual in connection with these incidents.
 
Claude Raymond Brabant, 46 years of Winnipeg has been charged with:
 
  • Fraud x 5
  • Theft Under x 5
  • Break and Enter - Commit Indictable Offence
  • Indecent Act
 
 
Winnipeg Police Service is issuing a photograph of Brabant in an effort to locate any outstanding victims.

COMMERCIAL ROBBERY                                   C11-249230
On November 29th, 2011 at approximately 4:10 a.m. a female entered a convenience store in the 600 block of Broadway armed with a knife. The female attacked an employee behind the counter, stabbing the victim and demanding money. Customers inside the store disarmed the accused and held her until police arrived.
 
The victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition, but has since been upgraded to stable.
 
Delores Williams, 48 has been charged with:
 
·        Attempt Murder
·        Robbery with a Weapon
·        Utter Threats x 2
 
She is detained in custody at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
  
SHOTS                                                                  C11-249432
On November 29th, 2011 at approximately 10:20 p.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a report of gun shots in the 1000 block of Beauty Avenue. Investigators confirmed that two adjacent homes had been struck with gun shots.
 
A suspect wanted in connection with this incident is described as follows:
 
·        Male
·        5'4" to 5'5", 16 – 20 years
·        Thin build
·        Wearing all black clothing, a dark neck warmer over his face

COMMERCIAL ROBBERY                                   C11-249311
On November 29th, 2011 at approximately 6:35 Winnipeg Police responded to a report of a commercial robbery in the 2000 block of McPhillips Street. A Female was attempting to flee the store after stealing merchandise when she was confronted by store security. While attempting to arrest the suspect, the loss prevention officer was pepper sprayed and the suspect fled.
 
With the assistance of Air One, General Patrol was able to locate the suspect over 2 kilometres from the scene.
 
Stacy McKay, 37 of Winnipeg was charged Robbery, Unauthorized possession of a Weapon and Breach of Recognizance.

COMMERCIAL ROBBERIES ARREST
On Monday November 28th at approximately 11:30 pm, a business in the 400 block of Springfield road was robbed by a lone male who indicated that he had a weapon. This male obtained a small amount of cash and fled the store. District 4 uniformed patrol officers attended to the area to search for this suspect.
 
Approximately 10 minutes later another business in the 600 block of Springfield road, was robbed, the suspect description was similar as in the previous robbery. A Winnipeg Police K-9 unit was in the area, and was able to immediately begin tracking.
 
The suspect was tracked to an address in the 1300 block of Raleigh, and arrested by District 4 uniformed members.
 
A 13 year old male is facing charges of;
 
-Robbery with intent X2
-Wear disguise
-Fail to comply with conditions of Undertaking.
 
He has been detained at the Manitoba youth centre.
 
 
STABBING INVESTIGATION
On November 29th at approximately 2:30 a.m. Winnipeg Police Division 11 uniformed members attended to the 100 block of Henry Avenue in regards to a male who had been stabbed.
 
A group of individuals were outside of this location when approached by 2 males, one male was armed with a knife. The individuals began to walk away from the male suspects. The suspect armed with the knife then grabbed a 26 year old male, and stabbed him multiple times to the upper body. He then took the victims backpack and fled.
 
The victim was transported to Health Sciences Centre where he was treated for his injuries and  remains in serious but stable condition.
 
The suspect is described as Native 18-24 years approximately 5'7" skinny build wearing all black, his face was covered.
 
Division 11 detectives are investigating.

The Winnipeg Police Service would like to alert members of the public of a number of instances of fraud that have occurred within senior citizen's complexes within the month of November.

Male, approximately 40 to 50 years of age, 5'8" to 6'0" tall with a slim build and sandy blonde/ red hair.  The suspect may also have a beard or noticeable facial hair.  
 
Investigators believe that this same suspect is responsible for a number of recent fraud related instances that have been reported to police. 
 
Employees working in senior citizen's complexes, family members of elderly persons or bank employees are asked to be especially vigilant when dealing with any suspicious activity in senior's residences or any suspicious bank withdrawals involving seniors.   
 
Anyone who has any information regarding the suspect is asked to contact the Division 11 Crime Unit at 986-6668 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
MALE WANTED- JOSEPH CONRAD LAVALLEE     C11-239031
On November 13th, 2011 at approximately 10:30 p.m. three male suspects, while armed with weapons and having their identities concealed, attended to a residence within the 500 block of Talbot Avenue in search of an unknown male.  
 
The suspects forced open the door and the suite was found to be empty.  When spotted by a neighbour the suspects fled into the rear lane of the 400 block of Riverton Avenue where they confronted a 65 year old male victim who was working in his garage. 
 
The 24 year old suspect, Joseph LAVALLEE along with another suspect allegedly forced their way into the garage where a gun was produced and demands for money were made.  The victim managed to flee into his residence as a number of police units arrived in the area.   
 
As a result of the efforts of East District Members as well as a canine unit, two male suspects were located in the area. 
 
LAVALLEE is currently wanted by police and all attempts to locate him have been unsuccessful.  
 
 
 
LAVALLEE is described as; an Aboriginal Male, 24 years of age, 5'11' tall, approximately 220 pounds with a medium build, brown hair and brown eyes.   LAVALLEE may have a goatee and a moustache.  
 
LAVALLEE also has the following tattoos; "JL" on his right forearm, "WA" on his left hand, and "Nicky" on his chest.

MISSING PERSON- TREY WARREN      C11-239539
The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in locating a missing 15 year old male, Trey WARREN.
 
WARREN was last seen on November 14th, 2011 at approximately 6:30 p.m. in the area of Ellice Avenue and Empress Street.  
 
 
 
WARREN is described as: Aboriginal, 5'11" tall, approximately 125 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes.  WARREN was last seen wearing a black "Jordan" sweatshirt, grey trousers and black "Jordan" shoes. 
 
Investigators are concerned for WARREN's well-being.
 
Anyone with information regarding WARREN's whereabouts is asked to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 986-6250.

Winnipeg Police Service News Release

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON- ARRESTS        C11-246916
On Saturday, November 26th, 2011 at approximately 4:00 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service members responded to a residence within the 100 block of Alfred Avenue for a report of a male that had been stabbed. 
 
Prior of officer's arrival, calls to 911 indicated that there were a group of people that had been fighting outside and that the suspects had since fled the area.  
 
Upon arrival a male victim was located suffering from serious upper body injuries.  Two female victims, aged 17 and 36 years, were also located and sustained minor injuries to their upper body. 
 
Paramedics attended and transported the male victim to the hospital in critical condition, where he has since been upgraded to stable condition.   
 
Observant Division 13 uniform members responding the call spotted the two suspect males and apprehended them within the 200 block of Alfred Avenue after a brief foot chase. 
 
The suspects were turned over to investigators from the Division 13 Crime Unit who continued with the investigation.   
 
The investigation has revealed that at approximately 3:00 a.m. a party had occurred at a residence within the 100 block of Alfred Avenue where all parties had been asked to leave.  Approximately 1 hour later, the two males who had been attendance at this party returned to the area and began banging on a door of another residence.   
 
Upon hearing the commotion the 24 year old male victim attended to the door and was confronted by the two suspects resulting in a fight occurring.  The victim was knocked to ground and physically assaulted about his upper and lower body.  During the fight a window was broken and the victim was stabbed a number of times in the upper body with a large piece of glass, as well as assaulted with a stick. 
 
Two females came to the victim's aid and intervened in the assault.  It was at this time that the suspects proceeded to physically assault both females about their upper body. 
 
A 16 year old male youth, who was detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre, is facing the following charges for his alleged involvement in this incident: 
 
- Aggravated assault
- Assault with weapon
- Assault x 2
- Possession weapon for a dangerous purpose x 2
- Mischief under $5000 and
- Breach of probation.
 
A 17 year old male youth will be facing two counts of assault and one count of assault cause bodily harm.  He has been released on a promise to appear.
 
 
FIREARM INVESTIGATION- ARRESTS   C11-246277
On November 25th, 2011 at approximately 11:30 p.m. as a result of an investigation involving a male in possession of a firearm, members of the Winnipeg Police Service Street Crimes Unit executed a warrant at a hotel suite within the 1700 block of Wellington Avenue. 
 
With the assistance of members of the Tactical Support Team and General Patrol officers, a male and female were taken into custody without incident.  A handgun and ammunition has been seized. 
 
Gene Lester Joseph MALCOLM, 27 years of no fixed address and Brittney Damara GOODWIN, 18 years of Winnipeg are facing a number of firearms related charges for their alleged involvement in this incident.  MALCOLM is also facing two counts of possession of a firearm while prohibited.
 
Both have been detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.

Winnipeg Police Service News Release

TRAFFIC STOP- ARRESTS           C11-245414
On November 24th, 2011 members of the Street Crimes Unit became involved in an investigation involving a male wanted on numerous firearms related offences.
 
As a result of the subsequent police investigation at approximately 1:20 a.m. the wanted male was observed to be within a vehicle along with three other individuals.  With the assistance of AIR 1, and a police canine unit, a vehicle stop was initiated near the intersection of St. Mary's Road and Marion Street. 
 
As officers were attempting to extract the occupants from the vehicle, the suspect vehicle reversed nearly striking a Winnipeg Police Service member who jumped out of the vehicle's path.  The suspect vehicle then drove forward striking a police member in the lower body before travelling southbound on St. Mary's Road.  Near the intersection of St. Mary's Road and Traverse Avenue the suspect vehicle lost control and struck a hydro pole causing extensive damage.  In an attempt to flee, the suspect vehicle again reversed, subsequently striking a police sport utility vehicle. 
 
When the second collision caused the suspect vehicle to become disabled, two suspect males exited the vehicle and fled on foot in separate directions.  With the assistance of the police dog the 32 year old male driver was apprehended after a brief foot chase. 
 
The second suspect, a 20 year old male, fled into the southbound rear lane of St Mary's Road.  Due to the efforts of ground unit members and with the assistance of Air1, this suspect was located within a rear yard in the 1st 100 block of Champlain Street. 
 
The two remaining suspects within the suspect vehicle were removed from the vehicle and taken into custody.  
 
The following has been seized:
 
- Approximately 5 grams of powder cocaine with an estimated street value of $500 and 28 grams of white powder, believed to be benzocaine, worth approximately $200.
- Approximately 10 grams of marihuana, $440 in cash, drug paraphernalia, and a number of cell phones.
              
Three Winnipeg Police Service Members sustained injuries during this incident. 
 
Alex MARJANOVIC, 21 years of Winnipeg is facing a number of drug related charges as a result of his alleged involvement in this incident as well two outstanding warrant for arrests for firearms related offences. 
 
Dan MARJANOVIC, 20 years of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences for his alleged involvement in this incident:  
- Obstruct/ resist peace officer
- Assault a peace officer
- Possess proceeds of crime
- Possessing controlled drug or substance - CANNABIS (MARIHUANA)
- Possessing substance for purposes of trafficking - COCAINE
 
Luke Pawel SANOCKI, 32 years of Winnipeg is facing the following charges for his alleged involvement in this incident:  
- Breach of probation X2
- Dangerous operation - motor vehicle
- Fail to remain at the scene of an accident and exchange particulars
- Assault with a weapon
- Flight from police officer
- Obstruct/ resist peace officer
- Possess proceeds of crime
- Possessing controlled drug or substance - CANNABIS (MARIHUANA)
- Possessing substance for purposes of trafficking – COCAINE
 
All three males have been detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre. 
 
An 18 year old female from Winnipeg, who was released to appear in court at a later date, will be facing drug related charges.   
 
            
SHOTS FIRED                                    C11-245991
On Thursday, November 24th, 2011 at approximately 7:45 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service Division 11 Members were called to a residence within the 600 block of Toronto Street for a report of shots fired. 
 
Upon arrival, officers located damage to the residence consistent with a firearm being discharged.   There were no injuries sustained to anyone within the residence. 
 
Major Crimes Unit members are continuing with this investigation.  Anyone who has any information is asked to contact investigators at 986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).

SHOOTING INVESTIGATION – ARREST C11-228043
As previously released, on Saturday, October 29th, 2011, just after 4:30 p.m., Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to the area of Selkirk Avenue and Salter Street, for reports of the sounds of shots being fired and a male shot. 
 
Upon arrival, officers located a 14 year old male suffering from upper body injuries due to a firearm discharge. Paramedics attended and transported the male to the hospital in critical condition. He has since been stabilized however continues to recover.  
 
The investigation has revealed that the suspect and the victim became involved in a verbal altercation. It was at this time the suspect produced a firearm and discharged it in the direction of the victim causing injury. The suspect fled the area on foot.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Major Crimes Unit. 
 
On November 23, 2011, as a result of community support, an 18 year old male was arrested. He is facing numerous weapon related offences and has been detained.
 
 
STRONG ARM ROBBERY – ARRESTS C11-244805
On November 22, 2011, at approximately 10:00 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 300 block of Portage Avenue regarding a fight incident.
 
Attending members discovered that three suspects approached a male and female while walking in the area and requested the time. The male suspect suddenly confronted the 24 year old female victim from behind and robbed her of her purse. The 22 year old male victim pursued the suspect at which time he dropped the purse. While retrieving the purse, the male victim was physically assaulted. Simultaneously, the two female suspects proceeded to physically assault the female victim.
 
Due to efforts by area security, members of the Downtown BIZ and the arrival of Police and Cadet Members two female suspects were located and placed under arrest.
 
Injuries sustained were non-life-threatening.
 
A 15 year old female and 20 year old female are facing several charges including Robbery. Both were detained.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit.
 
 
DRUG ARRESTS – C11-245125
On November 23, 2011, at approximately 1:30 p.m., members of the Division 13 Community Support conducted a traffic stop in the area of the 400 block of Dufferin Avenue.
 
As a result of the investigation, and with the assistance of the Canine Unit, the following items were located and seized:
 
  • 2 ounces of powder cocaine
  • 23 - ¼ gram flaps of powder cocaine
A 21 year old male and 24 year old male have been arrested and charged with several drug related offences.
 
The 21 year old was released on a Promise to Appear. The 24 year old was detained.
 
 
BREAK AND ENTER – ARRESTS C11-245331
On November 23, 2011, at approximately 7:50 p.m., patrolling East District members observed the front gates of Fort Gibraltar in the St. Boniface area to be insecure. The suspicious circumstances was investigated further at which time a break and enter was confirmed.
 
As additional police resources attended, one male suspect was located and arrested however, three more fled the area.
 
Due to the coordinated efforts of Uniform Patrol members, Canine Unit and Air1, the three remaining suspects were apprehended in the area of Mission Street and Archibald Street.
 
A 19 year old male, an 18 year old male and two 17 year old males are facing several charges including Break and Enter a Place. All four males have been detained.

STOLEN VEHICLE – ARRESTS R11-113776
On November 17, 2011, members of the Winnipeg Police Service received a report of the theft of a green Ford Aerostar van which occurred in the northeast area of the city.
 
On November 22, 2011, at approximately 10:50 p.m., Uniform Patrol members responded to the 1100 block of Henderson Highway regarding two suspicious males.
 
Attending members observed a green van in the area at which time computer checks confirmed it to be a stolen vehicle. Officers began following the vehicle for a short period of time. The suspect vehicle and occupants eventually parked in the area of the 900 block of Henderson Highway when officers activated their emergency equipment. Two male suspects exited the stolen vehicle and fled the area on foot in a northbound direction. Officers pursued the males and due to coordinated efforts, both suspects were taken into custody at a nearby business.
 
A 48 year old male is facing a charge of: Posses Property Obtained by Crime under $5000.00. He was released on a Promise to Appear.
 
A 31 year old male has been charged with: Posses Property Obtained by Crime under $5000.00 and Fail to Comply with Condition of a Recognizance. He was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
