STOLEN BIKE INVESTIGATION - ARREST C12-183050
On September 12, 2012, members of the Division 11 Crime Unit, acting on information received, attended to a Donald Street residence believed to be used to store stolen bikes.
 
Officers made contact with a male suspect who was observed to be in possession of two high end mountain bikes. The male was arrested and while being taken into custody, he broke free and fled from officers. In attempt to escape custody, the suspect assaulted both officers.
 
Officers pursued the male and safely took him into custody with the assistance of a Cadet Unit.
 
Upon his arrest, the male was found to be in possession of a quantity of Methamphetamine and one pistol style bb-gun.    
 
A search warrant was also executed at a residence on Donald Street at approximately 1:30 p.m., where five bikes were seized. 
  
Dale Charles HIEBERT, 29 years has been charged with numerous offences due to his alleged involvement. Some charges include: Assault Peace Officer x 2, Obstruct/Resist Arrest and Possessing Controlled Drug or Substance.  
 
The investigation is continuing.
 
The Winnipeg Police Service would like to remind all members of the public to accurately document personal property by referencing serial numbers, model numbers, unique markings and taking photographs. When reported stolen items are recovered by police, this documented information greatly assists investigators and increases the likelihood of returning recovered stolen property to the rightful owner.
 
 
STABBING C12-184493
On September 13, 2012, at approximately 2:00 a.m., WPS members responded to the area of Ellice Avenue and Donald Street regarding a stabbing incident.
 
Attending members came upon two adult males (19 and 20 years) suffering from non-life threatening injuries as a result of being stabbed. Both are in stable condition.
 
Both males report that they were stabbed while in the area by an unknown male. Limited information is available at this time.
 
No arrest(s) have been made.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit.
