GROW OPERATION – FIRE R12-94257
On Friday, September 14, 2012 at approximately 1:30 p.m. emergency services personnel responded to the report of a house fire in the first 100 block of Leaman Crescent. While dealing with the fire it was discovered the house contained a multi plant Marihuana grow operation.
 
The Winnipeg Police Service Green Team was assigned to investigate, a Controlled Drug and Substance Act Search Warrant was executed and they seized the following items:
 
878 Cannabis Marihuana Plants           estimated street value $972 160.00
Grow Operation Equipment                                   street value   $ 15 000.00
 
Hydro and water services were being by-passed.
 
There were no injuries as result of the fire and no suspects have been arrested at this time. 
 
The Green Team and the Arson Strike force continue to investigate.
 
 
ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON – ARREST C12-185875
On Friday, September 14, 2012 at approximately 10:45 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service members responded to the report of an assault in the 500 Block of Balmoral Street.
 
A 41 year old male victim was found to be suffering from an upper body injury consistent with being stabbed.  He was conveyed to hospital to be treated for his injuries.
 
General Patrol Members, the Major Crimes Unit and the Forensic Identification Unit were assigned to investigate and learned a group of people were socializing when the victim and suspect became involved in a verbal dispute that escalated to a physical assault.
 
The suspect was still at the scene and was immediately arrested. A 36 year old male is facing the following charges:
 
Aggravated Assault
Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.
 
The accused was detained in custody.
