FIRE INVESTIGATION – C12-186875
On Sunday, September 16, 2012 at approximately 3:50 a.m. a Winnipeg Police Service General Patrol Unit came across an unreported working fire in the 600 block of Boyd Avenue. 
 
The Winnipeg Fire Department was notified and the fire was extinguished but the building and contents sustained approximately $100 000.00 dollars in damage. The residence was unoccupied at the time and there were no injuries.
 
Members of the Arson Strike Force have been notified and will be investigating. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact investigators at 204 986-6813 or Crime Stoppers at 204 786-TIPS (8477
 
ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON C12-186877
On Sunday, September 16, 2012 at approximately 1:40 a.m. emergency services personnel responded to the report of an injured male in the area of Stradbrook and Osborne.
 
The investigation revealed the 30 year old male victim was in the area when he was approached by an unknown male who assaulted him. The victim sustained multiple upper body injuries consistent with being stabbed. He was transported to hospital in critical condition but has since been upgraded to stable.
 
The District 6 Crime Unit is investigating the assault. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-2877 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8777).
 
RESIDENTIAL BREAK AND ENTER ARREST C12-186143
On Saturday, September 15, 2012 at approximately 5:45 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service units were dispatched to the report of a break and enter in progress on Allegheny Drive.
 
Home owners reported hearing their door bell ringing and someone banging loudly on the back door. They did not respond to the banging and a short time later the suspect smashed the back door and a window with a chair. One of the residents immediately called 911 and at this time the intoxicated suspect apologized for breaking in stating that he was cold.
 
The suspect left a short time later without incident and was arrested nearby by General Patrol members.
 
The 33 year old suspect is facing charges of Break and Enter with Intent and was detained in custody.
