Wednesday, September 19, 2012     TANYA NEPINAK HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION - UPDATE   On September 22, 2011, the Winnipeg Police Service requested the public's assistance in locating 31 year old, Tanya Jane NEPINAK. She was last seen on September 13, 2011 in the downtown area of the city.   NEPINAK has not been located.   In June 2012, members of the Winnipeg Police Service arrested and charged; Shawn Cameron LAMB with 2nd Degree Murder in relation to her death.   Earlier this morning, Chief Keith McCaskill met with family members of Tanya NEPINAK as well as community elders. They were advised that due to inconsistent and new information, multiple areas within the Brady Landfill site have been identified as additional search areas. This information has created a massive search area, making it impossible to conduct an effective search.   A traditional ceremony was previously held at the landfill site which identified a focused search area. As a result, the Winnipeg Police Service will commence a search of this area on October 2, 2012.   Our commitment to Tanya and her family remains strong.   Anyone locally or nationally with information regarding this matter is asked to contact police at 1-855-817-4949.   The public may also contact Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477) with any information regarding this matter.     For further information contact either: Patrol Sgt.
