FREE VEHICLE SAFETY INSPECTION CLINIC
The Winnipeg Police Service Vehicle Inspection Section in conjunction with Manitoba Public Insurance Standards and Technologies will be offering a free motor vehicle inspection clinic. This event will be held on Sunday, September 23rd from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Manitoba Public Insurance Service Centre, 420 Pembina Highway. 
 
As a Public Service they will provide a vehicle safety inspection and an informational check sheet but will not issue offence notices or do any follow-up for re-inspects for defects or infractions.
 
The Winnipeg Police Service, including our partners in the transportation industry is committed to promoting safety for all motorists using the streets and highways throughout Winnipeg and Manitoba.
 
 
STABBING C12-190490
On September 21, 2012, at approximately 3:50 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of the 1300 block of Manitoba Avenue regarding a stabbing incident.
 
Officers located a 41 year old male suffering from multiple injuries consistent with being stabbed. He was conveyed from the scene in critical condition.
 
It was reported that two female suspects fled the area. They are described as being Aboriginal in appearance.
 
No arrests have been made at this time.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the District 3 Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact investigators at 204 986-2848 or Crime Stoppers at 204 786-TIPS (8477).     
 
  
MOTOR VEHCILE COLLISION C12-190490
On September 21, 2012, at approximately 12:25 a.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle collision in the area of Academy Road and Kenaston Boulevard.
 
The investigation has revealed that a Toyota Prius cab was being operated by a 43 year old male and occupied by a 23 year old male passenger, travelling in a southbound direction on Kenaston Boulevard. It was reported that a stolen Buick Le Sabre travelling on Academy Road went through a red light striking the taxi cab near the intersection. The collision caused the cab to roll onto its roof. The occupant(s) of the Buick fled the scene.
 
It has since been determined that the Buick was stolen on September 20, 2012 from the area of Roblin Boulevard and Dale Boulevard.
 
The occupants of the taxi cab are in stable condition. No arrest(s) have been made at this time.
 
The investigation is continuing.
 
 
ATTEMPT MURDER - ARREST C12-86238
As previously released, on May, 11, 2012, at approximately 12:50 a.m., uniform patrol members responded to an incident involving a firearm discharge at a residence located in the 500 block of Magnus Avenue.
 
Attending members located a 25 year old male with lower body injuries consistent with being shot.
 
The investigation revealed that the suspect forced entry into the home at which time five adults and 2 children were confronted. The victims are as follows:
 
  • 25 year old male – male shot 
  • 37 year old male
  • 30 year old male
  • 26 year old female
  • 59 year old female
  • Two young females
 
During the incident, it was reported that a canister of bear spray had also been discharged resulting in non-life threatening injuries to the occupants. The suspect fled the scene.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Major Crimes Unit.
 
As a result of the on-going investigation, a male suspect was identified and an arrest warrant was obtained.
 
On September 19, 2012, officers arrested Terrance HANSKA, 22 years who was already in custody at the time.
 
He has been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement: Attempt Murder, Break and Enter with Intent, Point Firearm, Reckless Discharge of Firearm, Assault with a Weapon x 3, Careless use of a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition and Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Court Order.
 
He remains in custody.
