ASSAULT POLICE OFFICER – ARRESTS C12-191311
On September 22, 2012, at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers responded to Carsdale Drive and Swinford Way due to the sound of shots heard and a large group of people gathering in the area.
 
Attending members initially located a male armed with a hammer, including several other males who became aggressive toward officers. The male with the hammer was disarmed.
 
It was at this time a 19 year old male was being arrested when another 19 year old male interfered and began pushing officers. Both males continued with their aggressive behaviour resulting in additional police resources being required.
 
A third 19 year old male suspect armed himself with an empty bottle and attempted to strike one of the officers in attendance. While officers were attempting to arrest this male, a 20 year old male also interfered. A further confrontation erupted and the males continued to fight with officers.
 
Two males attempted to flee the area, however due to the efforts of Uniform Patrol, Air1, Canine Unit and the Tactical Support Team they were located nearby and taken into custody.
 
Three 19 year old males and one 20 year old male are facing the following charges:
 
20 year old – Assault a Peace Officer, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
 
19 year old – Assault a Peace Officer X 2
 
19 year old – Assault a Peace Officer, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Assault with a Weapon
 
19 year old – Assault a Peace Officer X 2, Possessing Controlled Drug or Substance (Marihuana)
 
All four males were released on a Promise to Appear.
